Sky Science is Out of this World!

We made a solar system out of papermache so we can learn about planets in a different way. First we picked our planets by pulling popsicle sticks and choosing the one we were most interested in. Next we researched our planets only using trusted websites. We researched interesting facts, appearance, diameter, rotation and revolution period, and weather of our planets. Our next step was building a replica of our planet. We built our planets using papermache and balloons. We needed to know the colour and texture of our planets to be able to replicate them accurately. Finally we presented our research and slide to the class. You can see the presentations under the science section of the blog.

We had some challenges with group work like people not doing their jobs. This project was easy for me because I was interested in the planet I was researching so I actually wanted to do my work. One fact I learned about Mercury is that the surface area is like no other planet in the solar system!

Building a Model By Erin        Almost every science period Sandra Becker from the university from Calgary  comes to our class to do research, then we go to the makerspace lab to work on our models. Our models are a deep thinking question about sky science that we did research on, to eventually start building a model to show the answer to our question. Some of our questions changed after doing some research. We have to use flexible thinking because maybe the model that we had in mind doesn't work, so we have to change it to make it work. At the end of every work period we write in our log books. We use the log book because it shows our thinking throughout the process of making our models.         My question is, why is there microgravity in space? A World of Kindness

A W o r l d of K i n d n e s s By: Iri Make someone smile! It is the day where you are kind to everyone. The day where you make someone's day. Today, November 15th is Kindness day!! In our class, we have been writing kindness notes to teachers and to our classmates. When we came in the classroom and saw those notes on our desks with kind and thoughtful messages, it just made our day. I bet when the teachers saw their messages it made their day too. Being kind isn't very hard. Just one little thing can make someone's day and maybe even your day. Like, holding the door for someone. Or picking up garbage and making less garbage. Or even saying "Thank you". How easy is that! Just one little thing can make a HUGE  difference to the world. November 15th is kindness day but always remember that it's not the only kindness day. Miss Major says EVERY SINGLE DAY is kindness day. Let's work together and make a world full of kindness  💗
